Earlier today, Kotaku got their hands on a poster revealing what is supposedly the next Assassin’s Creed game. The game is called Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and is supposed to take place in the Caribbean while taking on a pirate theme. Even more interestingly, the poster is apparently supposed to be displayed in stores starting this coming Monday, March 4th. The leak also mentioned that the game would likely be in stores for a Holiday 2013 release. Up until now, Ubisoft has given little to no information about the next game in the series except that it will introduce a new hero and a new era.
The image itself clearly shows a new Assassin fending off some pirates with a Jolly Roger in the background. Assassin’s Creed III added the naval mechanic to the games, so a sea based game would seem like a natural step for the franchise’s story. Ubisoft did also mention that this game would not be made by the usual development team, meaning that this game has been in the works for quite a while now. It also means that while this game may not feature our revolutionary assassins, we may not have seen the last of them as there are now multiple teams of developers making games for the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
