Earlier today, EA Sports announced a brand new service called EA Sports Season Ticket. This new service will offer gamers some interesting bonuses if you’re willing to drop some cash.
EA Sports Season Ticket is a program that gives players a better experience on five select EA Sports titles for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. And you may be thinking, Oh well this is probably lame, listen to this. Members will get full access to EA Sports games THREE days before launch, a 20% discount on DLC, free premium web content and membership recognition, whatever that means. it launches this year with Madden ’12.
Let’s get into the specifics of the “get full access to EA Sports Games three days before launch.” You will be able to download the Full game on your Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 console and play it like you own it 3 days before the game comes out. But, after the three days you have to buy the game to continue playing. Once you do everything you’ve done in those three days will be carried over.
You also get an extra 20% off on all DLC that comes out for FIFA 12, Madden 12, NHL 12, NCAA Football 12, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12. This could be useful to those who always buy all the DLC that comes out for their games so you should be saving a ton of money here.
The Premium web content is also available. EA Sports is expanding the creation system, you can create your own teams and customize their jerseys. That jersey, for the applicable games, will actually allow you to put real world graphics into the game. So you want our logo to represent your hockey team? Well you can do that.
And last is the Membership Recognition, as long as you are a paying member of the Season Ticket, you will have a badge besides your name online. So you can rub it in all those who don’t have it.
Now, the cost. The EA Sports Season Ticket will run at an annual cost of $24.99, or 2,000 Microsoft Points for all us Xbox 360 owners.
This is definitely a very interesting program that I feel needs to get a little better before I would seriously think about getting this. The discount doesn’t seem like it’s enough, 20% that’s barely anything, maybe 50%. $25 is a lot to pay and it doesn’t seem like you’re getting as good of a return as they make it seem.
