Ubisoft has officially announced that Far Cry 4 will be making its way to North America on November 18th in North America, and November 20th in Europe. It will be releasing for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
This announcement comes off of the news that Far Cry 3 has sold 9 million units to date. This is great news as other Ubisoft titles like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has sold 11 million units. And with Watch Dogs right around the corner thing seem to be looking great for Ubisoft.
Far Cry 4 is set to take the franchise to new heights where fans of the series will have their expectations exceeded. Remember all those addicting hunting, gathering, collecting missions? Well they’re back and they are adding even more. This includes more weapons and vehicles. The game is set in the Himilayas and even features rideable elephants! With all of the new additions Ubisoft has had to call in the troops. Ubisoft Montreal will be enlisting the help of Ubisoft Toronto, Kiev, and Shanghai and even Ghost Recon: Future Soldier developer Red Storm.
Gary Steinman, Author over at the Official Ubisoft blog has said:
Taking a sharp turn away from the lush island jungles of the top-rated Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4 is set in Kyrat, an untamed region currently ruled by a despotic self-appointed king. But don’t be lulled into a false sense of security by the achingly beautiful views; Kyrat is a wild land full of perils. Once again, players will be able to craft their own stories as they travel through this exotic open world teeming with wildlife – using their wits along with an assortment of powerful weapons and diverse vehicles.
They have even told us about the return of one of Far Cry 3’s favorite characters, Hurk. If you purchase the Far Cry 4’s Limited Edition you’ll get access to Hurk’s redemption missions as well as Hurk’s harpoon gun, The Impaler.
What begs the question is if this self-appointed king will be just as interesting as Vaas, the antagonist of Far Cry 3. Only time will tell, you can also expect to see more at this years E3.
