So on one hand I guess this is smart of Nintendo? I never really understood the point of doing an XL. Like, if people were saying they wanted a bigger screen for the DS and you made the DS XL, wouldn’t you just make one that big for the 3DS regardless? But whatever. Portability versus displays and what not.
As you can see, the 3DS XL will feature much bigger screens. 90% bigger, to be exact. It will come in either red or blue and retail for $199, which seems pretty reasonable. The top screen will be 4.88 inches and the bottom will be 4.18 inches. It also comes with a 4GB SD card for all your eShop purchases and sports a longer battery life. A strange feature that I’m sure will change is that an AC adapter is not included, but works with previous DS chargers. Honestly the 3DS is awesome and I use mine at least once or twice a week. Between reliving a time when I didn’t have a care in the world via The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D, screaming at people on other continents with Mario Kart 7, or just downloading some sick demos/mini games/older games, it’s a good time no matter where you are.
With Nintendo announcing a new Fire Emblem for next year, an Animal Crossing for this Fall, a new Super Smash Bros and Professor Layton, plus the new Kingdom Hearts this July and Pokemon Black and White 2 dropping this Fall, now is as good a time as ever to pick up a 3DS. XL or regular, you won’t regret it.
