Today, Disney Interactive announced that a new Star Wars game would be developed by their new studio Area 52 Games in conjunction with Lucas Arts. The game is called Star Wars: Attack Squadron and is a free to play game focusing on dogfights using iconic ships such as the X-wing Fighter, as well as many more ships and items that will be added monthly. While no release date has been set for the game, sign-ups for a closed beta sometime in 2014 are open to the public on the game’s website. This is just the latest Star Wars game to be announced after Disney’s purchase of the Intellectual Property while obtaining Lucas Films at the beginning of next year. This is also the first new Star Wars game that Disney hasn’t handed over to EA for development, as a new Battlefront game was announced in development by DICE at E3 2013.
