Today I got a chance to get my hands on a game for Android and iOS called Ninja Time Pirates by HappyGiant- and it was just about as fun as it sounds (if you can even believe such a thing). I only got to spend about 20 minutes or so playing it, but from what I gathered it seems that you are a ninja named Retro who has gathered together a dream team of heroes from across time such as founding fathers George Washington and Benjamin Franklin, as well as a more eclectic selection of figures such as Blackbeard and Cleopatra in order to fight off some sort of alien invasion that is happening in the past in order to secure the future (which is our present).
The gameplay is fast-paced, with your whole squad following the directions of the big invisible finger in the sky in real time while attacking with their various themed weapons. Each of the four characters you can control at any given time have their own special attacks which recharge after each use, and you collect gold, little purple orbs, and time crystals to purchase new weapons and upgrades for each of them. Retro can open little black holes that suck in enemies, while Blackbeard can rain firey cannonballs down on his alien foes.
The 3D graphics are actually quite pretty for what I’ve seen on the mobile platform, and I really enjoy the adorably big-headed, little-bodied avatars charging across the screen towards each other to clash in hilarious combat. The game is available on Android and iOS, and could absolutely use your vote on Steam Greenlight. The game seems quirky, fun, surprisingly deep, and full of features that I didn’t get a chance to try out during my short time with it. I strongly recommend you give it a try- our present (and future) depends on it!
