The accessory maker Nyko has just announced that they will be releasing a brand new hard drive dock for the PlayStation 4 that allows owners to use the larger 3.5 inch hard drives to allow for some extra storage. Prior to this, PlayStation 4 owners had to replace the 500 Gig internal PS4 hard drive with similar sized 2.5 inch otherwise known as laptop drives which are limited in space and speed because of the physical size. Now with this new hard drive dock users can use full speed 7200+ RPM drives in much larger storage sizes which are conveniently less expensive.
The Nyko Data Bank has a LED that lets you know when the PlayStation 4 is accessing this storage. Nyko says that the install process for the Data Bank is extremely simple and only requires one screw. While there was no price set during this announcement, they did however say that it would be officially releasing and shipping in the first half of 2015.
This is great news for PlayStation 4 owners whose libraries are about to expand as more of the newest games like Dying Light, Evolve, The Order:1886, Project Cars and more look to be released.
Nyko has also announced another accessory for the PlayStation 4 called the Type Pad keyboard attachment which works much like the chat pad did for the Xbox 360. It’s a full qwerty keyboard which is designed to attach to a DualShock 4 controller. This Type Pad is actually compatible with Bluetooth keyboard-enable applications and games. But what about charging? Well Nyko has you covered and says the Type Pad can be charged simultaneously with the DualShock 4 controller via the micro USB port.
