In the words of Rush’s Geddy Lee at their first concert after a seven year hiatus: “I think it has been quite long enough.”
That’s right, both Harmonix’s Rock Band and Activision’s Guitar Hero are set to return on Xbox One and PS4, according to reports.
The reports claim that Activision’s Guitar Hero will go for a more “realistic style” as opposed to the cartoon norm. It will mark the first title in the series since 2011. The game will allegedly be announced this June at E3. No details on whether current peripherals will work.
In terms of Rock Band 4, fans have been begging for it since the third game’s release in 2010. The game had a much more hardcore fanbase with DLC being released on a weekly basis. Earlier in January, Harmonix released brand new DLC for the first time in almost two years.
With PAX East coming up in a week, featuring a Harmonix booth and a Harmonix party, this seems like a pretty good place to announce Rock Band 4 considering it’s their home town.
Earlier today the Rock Band Facebook posted this status:
“Have you played the latest Rock Band DLC yet? There are 2 new tracks, with names that definitely don’t imply anything!”
The two songs in question? Weezer’s “Back to the Shack” and Tenacious D’s “Rize of the Fenix.”
