Should You Buy An Xbox 360, PS3, or Wii Now?

Once again, Hooray for price drops. Price drops are an important stage in any product’s life, but in the life of video games it can lead to a huge surge of new ownership.

All 3 of this current generation’s consoles have gotten a price drop recently and you may be thinking “Oh snap, I’ve got to get me one of these”. Well hold on there bro.

The first of the price drops came with the PlayStation 3 and its brand new model with the sliding top disk tray. With the 250GB hard drive bundled with the GOTY version of Uncharted 3 running at $269.99 and the 500GB hard drive bundled with Assassin’s Creed 3 for $299.99 (coming October 30th). Or even the 500GB model bundled with a year of PlayStation Plus for $299.99

Next up is the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 has gotten a price drop of $50 bringing the 4GB Kinect Holiday Bundle with Kinect Adventures and Kinect Disney Adventures for $249.99 or you can snag the 250 GB model with Skyrim and Forza 4 for $249.99

And finally today Nintendo has announced that their hit console the Wii is getting a price drop to $129.99 this is down from the $149.99 that the Wii has been selling for recently. This bundle includes the console in black and comes with Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort on one disc. It also comes with a Wii remote with Motion Plus and a nunchuk. While the other two are available right now, this bundle will start becoming available October 28th.

This definitely means that the next generation of consoles are incoming. With only Nintendo announcing the release date of their new console, the Wii U coming November 18th. I would expect Sony and Microsoft to have some announcements soon.

Now before you run to your local Best Buy and pick one of these up take a seat and breathe. These price drops are meant to make you want to go out and immediately make your purchase. But those in the know have seen what happens around the holiday times. Waiting a month or two will definitely net you a better deal. Maybe target will throw in a year of Xbox live or another great game. Maybe Wal-Mart will have a sweet deal on an additional Wii remote? Maybe GameStop will have some great accessories for the PlayStation 3. You never know, and it never hurts to wait.

So while some of you are going to the stores as we speak, I hope this gives you a little heads up to what may be coming this holiday season.
