We’re now a week into 2013, and with that comes a whole new year of games to drool over and gawk at in various different ways. So which ones are we excited for? We took the results of our 2012 readers poll and added them to our own choices to bring you our list for the most anticipated games of 2013.
Coming in at number 5 on our list is Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs. While it was demoed at E3 2012 very little is known about the game yet. All that can really be said about this game so far is that it looks amazing, and has already won plenty of E3 awards.
4. DEAD SPACE3
Visceral Games is back with the third installment of their popular Dead Space series this year. Issac Clarke is back again to ruin a whole bunch of Necromorphs’ days in Dead Space 3 which drops February 5th in North America. Issac isn’t the only one running around this time, however. Dead Space 3 brings in a new co-op mode to the franchise that will introduce a brand new character to the story as well as add an element never before seen in the games. Also new to the series are voice controls for Kinect, which make it easier to help your co-op partner out while battling hoards of enemies.
3. BioShock Infinite
BioShock Infinite is the latest game in the works by Irrational Games and will be released on March 26th worldwide. While the game is the third in the franchise, BioShock Infinite takes place about fifty years before the events of BioShock and BioShock 2. Taking control of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, players will explore the floating air-city of Columbia. While most of the game’s mechanics are similar to the previous two BioShock games, this entry into the franchise will include a “1999 mode” which will make in-game choices more permanent, and may even render parts of the game unwinnable. For fans of the series, this game is sure to be a great title to add to your collection.
2. Grand Theft Auto V
Lets be honest, who isn’t excited for this game? Well, the wait is almost over as GTA V will be released sometime in the Spring of 2013. Rockstar Games has stated that there will be more cars and more exploring; with the new city of Los Santos being bigger than the worlds of GTA IV, GTA: San Andreas, and Red Dead Redemtion combined. In addition, the cars will feel more controllable, with a feel similar to a racing game. The multiplayer in GTA V will also bring in Crews, similar to the ones in Max Payne 3 and will even carry over your crews if you play both games.
1. The Elder Scrolls Online
Citizens of Tamriel Rejoice! When The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was announced, Bethesda mentioned that fans of the series wanted two things: multiplayer and dragons. Unfortunately, Bethesda could only only give players one of the two, and chose dragons. This is remedied in The Elder Scrolls Online, which will be a Massive Multiplayer Online game. The story itself will take place a thousand years before the events of any of the other Elder Scrolls games, and will place the Daedric Prince Molag Bal as the main antagonist. In this game, you will also join one of three factions as they compete for the Imperial City, with the highest ranked player in the controlling faction becoming Emperor of Tamriel. Most of the continent will be open to explore in the game, while some other areas will be locked off for future expansion packs. The Elder Scrolls Online will only be available for PC and Mac, but something about this title tells me we’ve found our next Game Fuel candidate. I hope you’re listening, Mountain Dew.
