The Witcher 3 PC Requirements Revealed

Just in case you didn’t know, CD Projekt Red’s most anticipated title The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set to release on May 9th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC with the latter being one of the most anticipated because of the popularity of The Witcher 2. With the game making a complete jump to the next generation most PC fans are curious of the system requirements, and have no fear, they’ve been officially released. But brace yourselves because it’s going to be a shock.

First things first is that it requires you to be running a 64 bit version of Windows 7 or later which isn’t a huge deal to PC gamers who have made that switch many years ago, but for those who are still gaming on a 32 bit OS, you’re going to need to reformat. This isn’t so far fetched because of the graphics requirements of games nowadays, less than 4 gigs of ram would hinder the performance of almost any game (64 Bit OS’s allow for the use of more than 4 gigs of system memory) Especially as 2 gig+ videocards become the norm.

Minimum
Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 940
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7870
RAM: 6 GB
OS: 64-bit Windows 7, 8 or 8.1
DirectX 11
HDD Space: 40 GB

Recommended
Processor: Intel Core i7-3770 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-8350 4 GHz
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 or AMD Radeon R9 290
RAM: 8 GB
OS: 64-bit Windows 7, 8 or 8.1
DirectX 11
HDD Space: 40 GB

And yes, you read that correctly, the recommended settings for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a Core i7 processor or AMD equivalent, FX-8350. That’s insane, along with a GTX 770 or AMD R9 290. These are one of the beefiest recommended system requirements I’ve ever seen which should indicate some truly next generation graphics. My PC is ready, and my body is willing. Bring it on. #PCMR
