Sony has announced a Playstation 4 system software update set to release sometime tonight and will to bring support for wireless stereo headsets. Update 1.60 is said to add support for the standard Pulse and Pulse Elite headsets which handle both 7.1 surround sound and voice chat. The update is also set to add stability improvements and adds the option to mute the PlayStation Camera.
In addition to this update Sony has also officially announced a new wireless headset called the Hold Wireless Headset is set to release in early February at only $99. The Gold Wireless Headset will be compatible with the PlayStation 4 (after the 1.60 update), PS3, and PC wirelessly. The headset will also come packaged with a 3.5 mm audio cable to work with the PlayStation Vita and other mobile devices. The battery for the Gold Wireless Headset is said to last for eight straight hours of gameplay which is impressive with a wireless headset. Launching alongside the Gold Wireless Headset is a free companion application that allows users to download unique audio modes created by the games developers. The app will launch on the PlayStation store and will be compatible with the Pulse and Pulse Elite headsets. Sony has also confirmed Infamous: Second Son will be one of the first titles to support the companion app.
